Repaired Nations Membership Overview
Repaired Nations was founded as a multi-stakeholder cooperative because we want to acknowledge the many groups of people that are required to create an ecosystem building organization such as ourselves.
“Typically, cooperatives have drawn their membership from a single class of stakeholders – producer cooperatives are owned by producers, worker cooperatives by workers, consumer cooperatives by consumers, etc. Multi-stakeholder cooperatives are co-ops that are owned and controlled by more than one type of membership class such as consumers, producers, workers, volunteers, or community supporters. Stakeholders can be individuals or organizations such as non-profits, businesses, government agencies, or even other cooperatives.” - University of Wisconsin
We’ve chosen to offer membership to Projects, Workers, Learners, Supporters, Investors & Co-Founders. Below is a preliminary illustration of how these membership categories come together to govern and manage what is at the center of our work: supporting Black & Diasporan communities to create cooperatives that provide a thriving future and intergenerational wealth.
